Senior Year Checklist:

-Please note, this is a very general timeline. Please visit the link at the bottom of the page for a much more detailed timeline pertaining to both early action/decision and regular application deadlines.

1. Get excited! It's your last year!

  • Don't let senior-itis give you a case of the blues. Stay hype throughout senior year so that you can stay motivated to keep your grades up and move on to life after high school.

  • Get started on college apps as soon as they open. Most applications are available on September 1st and should be submitted as soon as possible.

2. Sign up to take your SAT/ACT

  • October is prime time for seniors to take the ACT/SAT tests.

  • Best practice: Sign up for October and December test dates early. Just in case you need to take your test a second time to get a higher score for your college of choice or a scholarship.

  • Don't panic about test scores! It is important that you do well, but schools look at more than just test scores when deciding admission.

3. DO SCHOLARSHIPS!!!

  • Do as many scholarships as possible!

  • "Do I have to be accepted in to a college or university before I do scholarships?" Answer: NO!!!! The best scholarships have deadlines in the fall (October-December) and most schools don't give out decisions before December. DO NOT MISS OUT ON FREE MONEY!!!

4. Be aware of deadlines!

  • Colleges and scholarships have strict deadlines, down to the exact time. If you miss it, there are no exceptions.

  • Keep a calendar or planner near you at all time so you can keep up with the many different deadlines you'll have throughout the school year.

CONGRATS!!!
NEXT STOP... COLLEGE!
