You CAN Afford Out-of-State Colleges

You CAN afford to go to college outside of North Carolina! Although the sticker prices on colleges appear daunting, many institutions offer excellent financial aid packages that make attendance affordable for all students. A lot of the colleges below are seeking to diversify their student bodies financially and geographically, meaning Dare County’s applicants are especially appealing. Even without a special scholarship, the following colleges will cover ALL or ALMOST ALL of the expenses that you cant!

Two important terms:

Needs Blind Admission:  A college admissions policy in which applicants are judged solely on their merits, regardless of their ability to pay for tuition.

Meets Full Demonstrated Need: Schools that meet 100 percent of need use a combination of loans, scholarships, grants and work-study to fill the gap between the cost of attendance – tuition, fees, room, board and other expenses – and what a family can pay.
